Thurs July 23, 2026 at 9:30 am – Hawrelak Park  – main parking lot.  11:30 we will meet by the west side of parking lot to share what we created.

Wed August 5, 2026 at 9:30 am – St. Albert Botanical Gardens, a very limited parking area at a flower garden along the Sturgeon River.  Artists can choose the flowers and shrubs of the garden or the Sturgeon River.  11:30 am – meet by the parking lot and show our creations.  

Mon August 17, 2026 at 8:00 pm  Lois Hole Provincial Park, Big Lake, St. Albert.  There is a main parking lot and several areas on the board walk or pathway where you can create.  9:30 – 10:00 pm (depending when sun is down) – meet by parking lot to share the sunset creations.  Depends on when the sun goes down.  

September – no date set – but a good time to paint the fall colors of barns, fields, forests, and bales of hay.

Artists around Edmonton are invited to join me, Marg Oevering (780 940-2928 text is best) at the following locations to plein air paint, draw, sketch in the media of your choice.  You do not need to inform me if you go - just show up.

Come and join other artists from Edmonton area.  These are weather dependent Plein Air Painting experiences.  Come if you can.  If bad weather (super windy, rainy, stormy – I will not be going, but you can if you like).  I am a fair weather plein air painter.

THESE are OPEN to ALL ARTISTS whether part of an organized painting group or not.  

Generally what is needed:  Either an easel and palette with paint – and a sketch book for a quick sketch OR a camping chair, your media and tools and work on your lap.  
I often carry my acrylic painting gear in a wagon – tripod chair, inexpensive watercolor easel, brushes, paint, water, something for a palette.  

Plein Air painting can be quick 30 min sketches (drawing or paint) or 2 hour more finished paintings.  Paint or draw the important and main shapes – decide what you want to focus on.  Take pictures and you can decide if you want to do larger paintings of the scene.  

Paint/draw cards, paintings or sketches – have fun, enjoy nature and other artists.
